There is a saying among webmasters that goes "a website in an ongoing process, not a one time project". Truer words were never spoken.

Building your pages was only the first step, and was the easy part. Now, the challenge is getting quality traffic so you can make sales. Here are some tips that might help:

1. Manually submit your site's address to all the major search engines for indexing (to make it easy, use our "Search Engine Submit" page);

2. Send a color post card to your customer mailing list announcing your website. Check out RapidCards.com or ModernPostcards.com;

3. Change the featured work on your homepage periodically so it looks different for people who are returning;

4. Work out a reciprocal linkage agreement with other sites that offer selections which complement your own work. This does not mean your competitors, rather, the kind of work that your own customers might like.

   For example, if you make metal art deco table lamps, your work would likely be of interest to someone who is buying wood art deco furniture. Participating in reciprocal linkage with such a site would be mutually advantageous.

5. Get your site listed on as many art portals / online art galleries as possible. EC Gallery is an example of a well established art portal, and there are many others. See our list at our ArtsInfo page to get started.

   Another good way to find other similar sites is to use a powerful search service such as Search.com. Use as your query those targeted phrases that have to do with art & craft work. For example, try a query phrase such as "original art galleries" or "handmade craft galleries".

   The results that come up are the same kind of sites that your potential customers would use, so check them out and get involved if they allow you to participate. The WWW is not like craft shows, where you can be only at one place at a time. Rather, on the web you can be at dozens of places simultaneously - in fact, the more the better.

6. Make your site "search engine friendly", so you have the best chance for high ranking. If you are not sure how to do this, here are some TIPS.
